After trailing 0-2 in the first two men’s singles ties of the Badminton Asia men’s team quarter-finals, India makes superb victories over Thailand . Thanks to winning third singles and two doubles matches, India pips Thailand 3-2. As a result, India set up a semi-final clash with defending champions Indonesia in Manila on Saturday.

India challenge starts with disappointing note in this tie. As top ranked Indian male single player in BWF circuit, Sai Praneeth lost against Kantaphon WANGCHAROEN 14-21, 21-14,12-21. Having lost the opening set 14-21, Sai Praneeth was forced to pull out all stops to restore parity, at 21-14. But In decider set, Kantaphon WANGCHAROEN proved too strong and eventually win the set 12-21.

Former world ranked 1, Kidambi Srikanth also disappoints Indian fans. Srikanth shrugged off his 20-22, 14-21 defeat against 3 times world junior champion, Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the second rubber.

But Kidambi Srikanth showed his doubles talents with reliable partner Chirag Shetty, to post a 21-15, 16-21, 21-15 win over Maneepong Jongjit and Nipitphon Phuangphuapet in the fifth and deciding rubber.

Indian duo of Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun scored straight set victories over Thai pair Kittinupong Kedren and Tanupat Viriyangkura 21-18, 22-20. Then young sensation of Indian badminton, Lakshya Sen then made the tie score 2-2 after winning hard fought battle over Suppanyu Avihingsanon 21-19, 21-18.

After winning 3rd rubber, young sensation of Indian badminton Lakshya Sen showed his potential against Suppanyu Avihingsanon. Lakshya Sen scored dominating victory over Suppanyu Avihingsanon 21-19,21-18. Thanks to Lakshya Sen’s win, India- Thailand tie locked at 2-2.

Despite winning 2 doubles matches today, unavailability of doubles ace Satwiksairaj Rankireddy already proved vital for India. Initially, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy was part of the team, but was injured during a practice session before the competition opened last Tuesday.

The Indians will get another opportunity to show their potential , As they take on the Defending champions Indonesians in the semifinals on Saturday. The defending champions proved too strong against host Philippines. No doubt, Mens singles category is India’s strength in this event. And another point to remember, Indonesain 2 doubles duo is miles ahead compared to Indian pair.

To defeat Indonesia, Indian male singles players have to give their best. Winning battle against Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie and Shesar Hiren Rhustavito is not easy thing to do. So, Exciting battle is coming up for Badminton fans !!!
