After trailing 0-2 in the first two men’s singles ties of the Badminton Asia men’s team quarter-finals, India makes superb victories over Thailand . Thanks to winning third singles and two doubles matches, India pips Thailand 3-2. As a result, India set up a semi-final clash with defending champions Indonesia in Manila on Saturday.
India challenge starts with disappointing note in this tie. As top ranked Indian male single player in BWF circuit, Sai Praneeth lost against Kantaphon WANGCHAROEN 14-21, 21-14,12-21. Indian duo of Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun scored straight set victories over Thai pair Kittinupong Kedren and Tanupat Viriyangkura 21-18, 22-20. Then young sensation of Indian badminton, Lakshya Sen then made the tie score 2-2 after winning hard fought battle over Suppanyu Avihingsanon 21-19, 21-18.

Despite winning 2 doubles matches today, unavailability of doubles ace Satwiksairaj Rankireddy already proved vital for India. Initially, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy was part of the team, but was injured during a practice session before the competition opened last Tuesday.
The Indians will get another opportunity to show their potential , As they take on the Defending champions Indonesians in the semifinals on Saturday. The defending champions proved too strong against host Philippines. No doubt, Mens singles category is India’s strength in this event.
