Indian pacer T Natarajan has been one of the stories of the ongoing India tour of Australia. Initially picked as a net bowler off the back of his excellent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Natarajan was included in the ODI and T20I squads after injuries to Navdeep Saini and Varun Chakravarthy respectively. Making his debut in the 3rd ODI, Natarajan started his career on a bright note picking up 2 wickets.

In the T20 series, he took his game a notch higher as he returned 3 wickets in the 1st T20 before returning figures of 2-20 in the 2nd T20 in what was a high-scoring game, cruel to the bowlers. Natarajan’s meteoric rise has earned him admiration and appreciation from around the globe and the left-arm pacer will look to continue his good performances for the national team.

‘If you tell him to bowl a yorker, he will do it’

In the second T20 against Australia which was held today, Hardik Pandya walked home with the Man of the Match award after a scintillating knock to finish the game off for his side. Speaking in a video posted by BCCI, Pandya was all praise for Natarajan. He said, “I am impressed with him. He keeps it simple and I like people who keep things simple and don’t complicate too much. He’s one such player.”

Pandya further talked about how Natarajan can bowl yorkers at will. “If you tell him to go bowl a yorker, he’ll bowl a yorker. If you to tell him to bowl a wider slow ball, he will do it. He’s been fantastic,” the all-rounder said.

He then spoke of how Natarajan’s journey is a life lesson for everybody watching him. “Coming from the place where he has come and the opportunity that he got being picked as a net bowler. Everything shows a lot of character. It’s a lesson for people that if you keep things simple in life, it can benefit you in lots of ways and he is one of the examples,” Pandya signed off.
