Tamil Nadu and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fast-bowler T Natarajan will make his T20I debut for India in the first T20I against Australia at the Manuka Oval. The left-arm pacer who made his ODI debut at the same venue two days ago and picked up two wickets will look to continue the good form that he has maintained throughout the calendar year.

Natarajan had a stellar Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign for SRH and became known for delivering the highest amount of yorkers in the tournament. He was then selected as a net bowler for India’s tour of Australia but injuries to Varun Chakravarthy and Navdeep Saini meant Natarajan was included in the T20I and ODI squads respectively.

T Natarajan’s composure the reason for his debut

T Natarajan was a part of the playing XI in the 3rd ODI that India won and although the fast-bowler was taken for runs by Glenn Maxwell, he picked up two important wickets for his side. If his performances in IPL are anything to go by, Australia will find him a hard nut to crack.

Meanwhile, Australia won the toss and opted to field first. Skipper Aaron Finch confirmed that D’Arcy Short will open the batting because of David Warner’s injury and that Matthew Wade will come in at No. 3. Indian skipper Virat Kohli stated that Natarajan had looked composed in the 3rd ODI and that was the reason he was picked in the 1st T20I as well.
