There was a moment of controversy during the Indian innings of the third test between India and England as the third umpire made a quick decision that was disputed by the English players. In the second over, opener Shubman Gill was batting on 0 for the hosts when he edged a delivery from Stuart Broad. The ball went to Ben Stokes at slip and the all-rounder completed the catch and appealed.

The on-field umpire gave the soft signal as out before sending the decision to the third umpire. The third umpire then saw just one angle of the replay and decided that Stokes had grounded the ball after completing the catch. The English players then came in to protest and Stokes was seen jokingly laughing the incident off. Skipper Joe Root and bowler Broad had heated words with the umpire before play resumed.

The decision of the third umpire was discussed and debated by fans on Twitter. Here are a few such reactions.
