Former Indian player and India’s current Head Coach Ravi Shastri congratulated England’s skipper for his double ton. Root, who is playing his 100th Test, scored a magnificent 218 runs in the first innings of the ongoing Test in Chennai.
In the video posted by BCCI on Twitter, Shastri was seen shaking hands with Root ahead of third day’s play. He even patted England’s star batsman, spoke words of motivation for his lion-hearted knock.

The 30-year-old batsman walked the pitch during the first session of Day 1 and played a masterstroke. His show with the bat continued till the final session of Day 2 when he fell a prey to leg-before-wicket to Shahbaz Nadeem’s bowl.
In his defining knock of 218 runs, Root faced 377 balls and smashed 19 fours and two sixes. He completed his double century in style as he smashed it over the rope for a six.
