The second test between India and England in Chennai completely belonged to the hometown hero Ravichandran Ashwin as he came up with an exemplary all-round performance to flatten the Englishmen. The offie followed up his five-wicket haul in the first innings by scoring a scintillating hundred with the bat on difficult conditions to bat on. He then returned to pick up three more wickets in the second innings.
Through his performance, he achieved the feat of a player scoring a hundred and taking a five-wicket haul in the same match for a third time. Only Sir Ian Botham has done it more times. Ashwin leapfrogged the likes of Mushtaq Mohammed, Shakib Al Hasan, Gary Sobers and Jacques Kallis who had all done it twice in their careers. Sweetest of it all for Ashwin was the fact that it came at his home ground.
