New selection committee to meet tomorrow

The BCCI’s newly formed selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma is set to meet tomorrow, according to Cricbuzz in order to decide on the squad for the first two Tests in Chennai. It has been understood that Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri will also attend the meeting through a video call.

The selectors’ jobs should be straightforward as India are in top form at the moment. However, a plethora of players have suffered injuries and it will have to seen to it that such injuries aren’t aggravated. This is especially because there is a packed calendar ahead with very little breaks in between series, tournaments and World Cups.

The meeting has been scheduled for 5 PM IST tomorrow and it remains to be seen if the squad will be announced immediately following the meeting.
