Amidst the COVID19 pandemic the entire country has united to defeat the crisis, be it maintaining social distancing, helping the less privileged, lighting diyas and clapping hands or donating to the PM Cares fund.
Indian sports stars are no different. Apart from spreading awareness among their fans and sharing fitness tips, they have generously donated to the PM and CM COVID funds and have helped out in other capacities as well.
From 15 year old shooter Esha Singh, women’s U19 cricketer Richa Ghosh, young golfer Arjun Bhati to legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Saurav Ganguly and Dhanraj Pillay, the entire sporting fraternity has united with citizens to help fight the epidemic.
The list of contributors is exhaustive. Organizations like the BCCI, Hockey India and IOA have donated funds while SAI has handed over the Nehru Stadium to the Delhi goverment. Teams like Mohan Bagan, Sunrisers Hyderabad and various sportspersons have also been involved with COVID relief efforts.
