Indian stars shines in doubles category at Bengaluru ATP challenger : As it happened


Indian doubles pair making a mark at Bengaluru ATP challenger. As Indian men’s singles campaign finishes on a disappointing note yesterday, Indian interest remains only doubles category. Tricky Indian pair Purav Raja/Ramkumar Ramanathan will face Leander Paes/ Matthew Ebden pair in the final of men’s doubles category.

This tournament is very special for doubles legend of Indian tennis Leander Paes. Already Leander Paes had announced that 2020 will be his farewell year. He also announced that he will be playing select tournaments, to thank his fans around the world. So definitely, Leander Paes would like to make this count. He would be eyeing another glory from this event.

Leander Paes/Matthew Ebden starts double campaign of this event as unseeded pair. They scored resounding victory over Blaž Rola/Zhang Zhizhen 7-6(4),6-4 to reach quarterfinal. In quarterfinal, Leander Paes/Matthew Ebden scored thrilling win over 3rd seed Andre Goransson/Christopher Rungkat 7-5,0-6,10-7.

In semifinal, they faced tough test against 2nd seed Jonathan Erlich/Andrei Vasilevski. The duo won the 1st set against 2nd seed Jonathan Erlich/Andrei Vasilevski 6-4. Indian duo scored resounding victory over Adil Kalyanpur/S D Prajwal Dev 6-2,6-2 to reach quarterfinal.

In quarterfinal, this duo scored straight set win over Nikola Milojević/Frederico Ferreira Silva 6-4,6-4. In semifinal, they faced another tricky pair Saketh Myneni/Matt Reid. More fact to remember, Saketh Myneni/Matt Reid stuns top seed Denys Molchanov/Hsieh Cheng-peng 3-6,6-4,10-8 to reach semifinal. In semifinal, Saketh Myneni/Matt Reid forced to (ret). During 2nd set of the match. But before this, Purav Raja/Ramkumar Ramanathan was dominating pair on court as the duo wins 1st set 7-5. So, Exciting doubles final is coming up !!!
