Sumit Nagal receives a direct entry to US Open 2020

The US Open are about to start, and now like it’s coming closer and closer each and every player and fan cannot hold their excitement. As we know, The ATP rankings as of Aug. 3 were used to determine the US Open main-draw entry list. 

Sumit Nagal, World No 127 Indian tennis player received a direct entry for the 2020 US Open. He was the last man to receive direct entry into the field of 128.

Nagal earned a dream Grand Slam debut for himself after defeating Brazil’s Joao Menezes in the final qualifying round, in year 2019.

He has once even defeated the legendary Roger Federer as the Indian set up the US Open first-round clash against him and won the first set but lost the tie 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

With immense excitement for the upcoming US Open is all in the air, there is somewhere the absence of the other two legends of ‘Big 3’ is already breaking hearts of many.

And recently on Tuesday, World No.2 Rafael Nadal that he won’t travel to New York for the hard-court Grand Slam due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Which only leaves, Novak Djokovic as the clear favourite as he looks to add a fourth US Open trophy to his collection and take his Grand Slam tally to 18, without any hurdle this time.
