Injured Sushil Kumar pulls out of Olympic qualifiers trials

Two time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar has pulled out of trials for Olympic qualifiers. He sustained an hand injury and had requested trials in this category to be postponed.

However WFI will go ahead with the trials despite the postpone request. Sushil may get a chance to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics in march.

Sushil has been trying to revive his career and was training vigorously with his Russian coach Kamal Malikov. But this will hamper his chances as 74kg is a tough group and Gaurav Baliyan will give him tough competition.

The 74kg weight category is a group of death as three current national champion fight for Olympic qualifiers. Gaurav baliyan is current national champion in this category while Praveen Rana is runner up. Jitender, whomember of Indian team in World championship in 79kg has shifted to 74 kg for trials as to fulfill his Olympic dreams.

Sandeep Mann is current national champion in 79kg category, Naveen is national champion in 70kg are moving to 74 kg for trials.
