IOC donates $25M more to Olympic athletes, teams

The International Olympic Committee is assigning more than $25 million to cover extra players and team costs which are relevant to the one-year postponement of the Tokyo Olympics.

The IOC says an extra $15 million will be given to the program to help 1,600 athletes from 185 less well-funded countries who are preparing for the games in 2021.

While more than $10 million is available for covering additional functional costs like travel and lodging for administrators.

The Olympic Solidarity program is awarded money with the purpose to help all 206 national Olympic teams and the refugee teams who send athletes to the event.
