IPL 2020: Aakash Chopra picks the playing eleven for Delhi Capitals

At number 3 Chopra chose skipper Shreyas Iyer followed by Rishabh Pant. He conceded that Pant has the ability to bat at any position.

Aakash Chopra released a video on his facebook page in which he picked the playing XI for Delhi Capitals. He selected the strongest playing 11 which included some experienced players like Ashwin, Dhawan and Amit Mishra.

Now that the IPL is days away, cricket analysts and experts have started analysing various aspects of IPL. Chopra has selected his own playing XI for various teams and this time he has done it for DC.

Aakash’s playing eleven for Delhi

The former Indian batsman put his bets on Shreyas Iyer to be the standout performer for Delhi Capitals this season. The 42-year-old also left out some big names like Rahane, Nortje and Marcus Stoinis.

Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw were the openers in Aakash’s team. He said he also considered choosing Rahane over Shaw but as Shaw is a specialised opener and hence he went with the youngster. At number 3 Chopra chose skipper Shreyas Iyer followed by Rishabh Pant. He conceded that Pant has the ability to bat at any position.

Shimron Hetmyer and Alex Carey grabbed the fifth and sixth spot in Chopra’s team. The surprise pick of Aakash Chopra was Axar Patel whom he picked over the Australian all rounder Marcus Stoinis. Chopra further picked two spinners in his team– Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra.  Finally to finish the playing XI, Aakash selected Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada as the specialist pacers.

Aakash said, “Delhi Capitals will be in the top four and are actually my title contenders. This could be their year if they play to their potential. Shreyas Iyer will their outstanding player in IPL 2020, he will score runs, do captaincy and make his team win.”
