Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a few bargains in the 2021 VIVO IPL Player Auction on Thursday. Some unexpected players got a whopping price, while some known and expected faces got a bid of very few bucks.

In the hot bid on Thursday, CSK bought six players in the open auction with Moeen Ali (Rs 7 crores), Krishnappa Gowtham (Rs 9.25 crore), Cheteshwar Pujara (Rs 50 lakhs), Harishankar Reddy (Rs 20 lakhs), K Bhagath Varma (Rs 20 lakhs), Hari Nishanth (Rs 20 lakhs).

Cheteshwar Pujara invited no interest, traded at the base price

India’s batting great of the longer formats of the game, Cheteshwar Pujara and his fans received a blow initially- when his auctioned name found no buyers. Suddenly, the yellow brigade, CSK, expressed their willingness and opened the bid at the base price of 50 lakhs.

Though the tall figure is more suited for the red ball formats where he has proven himself, but the prolific player has the skills to provide the performance with the bat. He can use his wide experience to play in the shorter format of the game.

Pujara will play IPL after over seven years. The 33-year-old played in 30 IPL matches; however, he last played in the league in 2014 for Punjab. Since then, Pujara has gone unsold at the IPL auction on numerous occasions.
