IPL 2020: BCCI eases norms for KKR and MI; other teams begin practice in Dubai

The Emirates of Abu Dhabi has decided to ease the quarantine norms for both KKR and MI after the intervention by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Being based in Abu Dhabi, both these franchises were supposed to undergo a 14-day quarantine period. However, their counterparts based in Dubai have already started training after completing six days of mandatory quarantine. The two emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi have separate protocols related to the pandemic.

Both these franchises seemed the help of IPL’s Governing Council to resume training. Governing council chairman Brijesh Patel along with the other BCCI members held a meeting with the Emirates Cricket Board to resolve the issue. The aim was clear, not handing over advantage to any particular franchise.

After this request from India’s cricket board, ECB Chief Sheikh Nahyan personally intervened in the matter and was able to break the restriction.

Having said all that, KXIP and RR have already commenced their training at the ICC Academi in Dubai, UAE. After overcoming all the mandatory procedures of 6-day quarantine, the official social media handles of both the franchises shared some photos and videos
