If Mumbai Indians’ star-studded line-up is anything to go by, the team is never out of contention in the Indian Premier League (IPL). There win is as if written in the stars. But, if numbers are to be believed, Mumbai may not be in the title race this year.

The Rohit Sharma-led side has won the tournament in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019, and people who believe in numerology will strike Mumbai out of this year’s title race. However, the side is confident of a powerful display on the field.

Will Mumbai Indians break the odd year sequence?

Mumbai India boasts a strong side which does not depend on individual brilliance. It is their collective performance that separates Mumbai from the rest of the sides. They also possess a good bench strength.

MI’s star player, Malinga, whose economy rate was over 9.0 throughout the last year’s edition delivered an amazing last over, which helped the side to lift its fourth title.

The only spot of bother for Mumbai Indians is their spin attack. It is being speculated that pitches in UAE will support spinners and Mumbai have Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya at their disposal. They are good bowlers but lack quality spinners to deliver under trying circumstances.

Mumbai will take on on Chennai in the the first match of the Indian Premier League 2020 tonight at 7:30 pm IST.
