Chasing a target of 217 is too huge a mountain to climb for any team. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) too couldn’t surpass Rajasthan Royals’ target despite the presence of one of the greatest finisher of all time, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Rajasthan, helped by blistering knocks of Steve Smith and Sanju Samson, and a thilling cameo by Jofra Archer, put on a huge score in the first innings.

The Dhoni-led side kept losing wicket at regular intervals and the team never gathered momentum needed to win the match. Faf du Plessis did smack the ball hard in the later part of the innings but he couldn’t compensate for Chennai’s first innings slow run rate.

Although, Dhoni’s late flourish augurs well for his fans as the tournament beckons. He hit towering sixes in the last over of the match and a fan was seen collecting the ball and taking it home.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit Tom Curran for three sixes when the team required 36 runs. CSK couldn’t win the match but was able to manage its NRR.

His second six that went a distance of 92 metres was the best among the three. A fan outside the Sharjah Stadium was seen collecting the ball hit by Dhoni. He later took off with a smile on his face.

Three maximum couldn’t help CSK’s cause but it’s a promising start by the former Indian skipper who was not in the thick of things before the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni announced his retirement on August 15th and last played against New Zealand in the semi-final match before donning yellow jersey for CSK.
