IPL 2020: ‘It feels good’ – Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians begin training in UAE

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his happiness after returning to the field, after a huge 5-6 months gap. Sharma is pleased to reap a hit in the nets during MI’s first training session.

After completing all their isolation and COVID-19 protocols, the franchise began their training in UAE on Saturday.

Mumbai Indians official Twitter handle shared a video in which Rohit opened up on his experience of the first training session.

“[It] feels good firstly just to be out here. Even though it’s only for an hour, but we will take it,” he said.

“It is pretty hot out here, so just making sure that you get used to the conditions, the pitches here and all of that. So [it will be] nice and easy the first few days,” the four-time IPL winning-captain further said.

Another key player for MI is Suryakumar Yadav who shown his versatility in the team by batting at different positions for the team further said, “It’s a great feeling to come back on the field and do what we love the most. We are really excited and it [the training session] went really well”.

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya also expressed his excitement for the tournament. He said, “It’s a great feeling to come back on the field and do what we love the most. We are really excited and it [the training session] went really well.”

Sixty IPL games will be played over 53 days across three venues – Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The opening match of the season will be played on September 19th.

This season, both the afternoon and evening matches will be played half an hour earlier than ordinary. The final match is planned to be played on a weekday, for the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League.
