Rajasthan Royals fielding coach Dishant Yagnik joins his team’s squad in the United Arab Emirates, ahead of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Yagnik made his return to the side after testing negative twice for the novel coronavirus tests.

Earlier, the former Indian cricketer tested positive for the COVID-19, days before his team was set to leave for UAE. Following that, Yagnik underwent an isolation period of 14 days and is finally eligible to join the team camp in Dubai.

On August 12, Rajasthan Royals officially confirmed the news of Dishant Yagnik testing positive for coronavirus. As a result, the team asked him to stay back in India while the remaining members flew to Dubai for IPL 2020.

The Rajasthan-based franchise took on their official Twitter handle (@rajasthanroyals) to break this news to their fans. Rajasthan Royals welcomed their fielding coach on the microblogging site, with his picture in the PPE kit.

RR first to reach UAE

As the IPL commences from September 19, Rajasthan Royals became the first team to land in the UAE. As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had advised all franchises to start travelling to the Emirates from August 21, various teams have touched the overseas land.

The 13th edition of the IPL in the UAE will be played for 53 days, from September 19 to November 10, across three venues — Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai. For the first time in the history of the league, the final will take place on a weekday, i.e. Tuesday.
