IPL 2020: Shikhar Dhawan becomes the only player to score consecutive centuries in IPL
Delhi Capitals’ (DC) opener Shikhar Dhawan has become the first and only player in the 13-year history of the Indian Premier League. Following on from his century in the second innings against the Chennai Super Kings, Dhawan has scored a blistering 57-ball century against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).
No player in history has ever scored centuries of consecutive matches before. Previously just two players had scored consecutive 90+ scores. They were Jos Buttler in 2018 and Shane Watson in 2013. But nobody had got the elusive second consecutive hundred.
‘Take a bow, Gabbar’
Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, DC lost opener Prithvi Shaw early. However, Dhawan kept hitting boundaries at will despite losing partners at the other end. In the end Dhawan finished on 106 off 61 deliveries. Delhi Capitals’ final score however, read only 164/5.
Shikhar Dhawan had previously not scored a single century in T20s. But now he has got two in two.
