Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper-batsman AB de Villiers continued with his supreme form in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. The South Africa cricketer has won plenty of games for his franchise over the past many years.

AB de Villiers currently has 125 runs to his name at a brilliant average of over 62 in IPL 2021. Former India cricketer and current Sunrisers Hyderabad support staff member VVS Laxman also leapt praises for the RCB batsman. He mentioned that the Proteas player has retired from all forms of international cricket but his passion, zest, fitness, and appetite is still there.

“AB, of course, is just phenomenal. You think you have seen it all, and yet, year after year, he takes your breath away with his innovativeness and creativity. He doesn’t play international cricket any longer, so it’s a little short of amazing that he continues to retain his passion, zest, fitness, and appetite,” Laxman wrote in his column.

The former cricketer advised the upcoming players to try not emulating AB de Villiers’s stroke-play. In the end, Laxman also praised former SRH player and current Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan.

“I wouldn’t recommend that young batsmen attempt to emulate his [AB de Villiers’s] stroke-play because that’s impossible, but there is so much to learn from his work ethic and his commitment. In that regard, AB and Shikhar have established themselves as the leading lights of the competition so far,” Laxman concluded.

AB de Villiers will now be seen in action during RCB’s upcoming clash against Rajasthan Royals on April 22. The two sides will lock horns at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
