Delhi Capitals (DC) have been handed a big boost as their ace all-rounder Axar Patel has returned finally to the team’s camp for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He will now be available to feature in his side’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) tomorrow. The southpaw had tested positive for COVID-19 on the 3rd of April before the tournament got underway. He then had to be isolated following which, it remained unclear as to when he would return as the recovery period took more time.

In the meantime, DC named a temporary replacement in the form of Mumbai cricketer Shams Mulani along with naming Anirudha Joshi as injured captain Shreyas Iyer‘s replacement. Now, with Axar Patel back, he would be favorite to get back to the playing XI if he is deemed fit and available for the next match.

Axar Patel made his way to the DC bio-bubble today and the franchise welcomed him with a post on Twitter captioned, “Smiles and hugs all around as Bapu returned to the DC camp. Oh, how we missed you, @akshar2026. P.S. Kya challlaaaaa?”

With regard to Delhi Capitals, the side is currently in the third spot on the points table with 3 wins in 4 matches including a terrific victory over defending champions Mumbai Indians. Shikhar Dhawan has been in imperious touch while the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Steve Smith, Rishabh Pant and Lalit Yadav have shone on at least one instance. They would hence, fancy their chances of making it to the playoffs, with Axar back.

DC’s next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on the 25th of April and Axar Patel might feature.
