IPL 2021: SRH vs RCB – Match 6, How can Sunrisers Hyderabad get their campaign up and running with a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore today?

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) would want to get their campaign on track after their loss in the first match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They face a confident Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) today at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. RCB came up trumps in their first match by defeating defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) with an excellent all-round performance in a last-ball thriller.

Both teams would have points to ponder over. SRH’s famed bowling attack did not come good. They batting order did not seem right as holding back Abdul Samad cost them. RCB wouldn’t want to chop and change too much but they might be tempted to bring in an extra batting option as they had a plethora of bowlers who did not bowl enough overs.

On that note, we take a look at how SRH can defeat RCB today.

IPL 2021: SRH vs RCB – Key for SRH #1: Sort out the batting order

SRH did not get the batting order right in their game against KKR. Chasing a stiff total and with Manish Pandey settled at one end, they promoted Mohammad Nabi and Vijay Shankar ahead of the big-hitting Abdul Samad. The former duo found the going tough and did not deliver. Samad however, was excellent in his short stay at the crease as he brought SRH back into the game.

This should force SRH to make a few changes to their batting order. While it remains to be seen if there would be changes in terms of personnel, promoting batters depending on the situation would be on the management’s minds. If they do that to perfection, they should be able to put pressure on RCB.

IPL 2021: SRH vs RCB – Key for SRH #2: Use Rashid Khan wisely

Rashid Khan celebrates a wicket against DC
Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan is an extremely wily leg-spinner and each and every batsman in the IPL has found hitting him a difficult task. The four overs that the Afghan bowls are seldom taken for runs and he takes crucial wickets as well. This is exactly why his four overs become crucial for both sides. The opposition must play him wisely and SRH must use him wisely. Rashid does not usually bowl in the Powerplay which has worked so far for SRH and hence, they could continue with the same.

For today’s match, the leggie should be used against the likes of Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers in order to force them to take risks and hence, dismiss them. Rashid has troubled the latter in the past (though he has also been taken for plenty) and if he is used wisely, RCB could be in trouble.
