Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are flying high at the moment as they find themselves on top of the table after winning each of their first four matches. Their batting has clicked excellently well and the addition of Glenn Maxwell has proved to be a masterstroke. Their death bowling worries from last year have also been quelled with some terrific bowling depth which has been added.

RCB will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) today who are also on a good run of form. After a loss in the first match against Delhi Capitals (DC), the Men in Yellow have bounced back remarkably well to notch up three wins in a row that sees them placed on the second spot in the table. The MS Dhoni-led side will not be easy, especially with their current mastery of the conditions at the Wankhede Stadium.

On that note, we take a look at how RCB can defeat CSK today.

Despite their superb form with the bat, RCB have not yet had a settled batting line-up. They have used different players like Shahbaz Ahmed and Rajat Patidar as their No. 3 batsman which hasn’t quite worked out. But the No. 4 and No. 5 in Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers have ensured that it hasn’t been a problem.

Despite the seemingly settled nature of the line-up, there is a need for certainty and balance. Failure for the likes of Virat Kohli and the overseas stars could see RCB finding themselves in troubles. Therefore, a certain batting order is something that RCB must look at, starting from today’s match.

IPL 2021: CSK vs RCB – Key for RCB #2: Thwart CSK’s strategy of attacking throughout

CSK have followed a plan of batting with intent throughout the innings with the exception of a steady start by the openers. Each batsman that walks in has hit some lusty blows and exited after a quick cameo. Such has been the nature of CSK’s batting displays in the previous few matches.

RCB will have to thwart this by some smart bowling. Focusing throughout and not letting the Men in Yellow have any loose balls could work wonders by increasing the pressure on them. Early wickets and getting rid of the in-form Faf du Plessis would also be of paramount importance.
