Rajasthan Royals celebrate a wicket

Rajasthan Royals (RR) finished at the bottom of the table last season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after faltering in capitalizing on a strong start to the tournament. From being in a strong position on the table and staying in contention for the playoffs till the very end, they ended up with the wooden spoon due to their inconsistency and lack of bowling depth.

Their batting didn’t come good when it mattered as well with batsmen firing only in a few matches. Their bowling attack with the exception of Jofra Archer went for runs and their fielding left a lot to be desired at times as well. Now, all focus for the franchise will be on the next edition of the IPL with an eye on the mini-auction which is set to take place either on February 18 or 19 in Chennai.

Rajasthan Royal’s funny response to Shah Rukh Khan’s post

Bollywood actor and co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise, Shah Rukh Khan posted a picture today on his Twitter handle of him playing pool. On the pool table, there was a pink-colored ball among others and the admin of RR’s Twitter handle came up with a funny response to the picture. They wrote, “Nice to see pink on top of the table tbh (sic)” referring to the side’s primary color of pink.

Rajasthan Royals announced their full list of retained players on Wednesday and surprisingly chose to release their skipper Steve Smith. They have now promoted Sanju Samson as captain of the side and appointed former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara as the director of cricket with the hopes of getting their hands on the trophy which has been eluding them since the first edition of the tournament.
