Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw came up with an opening over for the ages in the side’s match over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. DC were already flying high in the IPL despite their loss in the previous match to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the confidence in the side was evident as they were excellent throughout the match today.

Earlier, KKR were put in to bat and the openers failed to deliver a big performance yet again. With Nitish Rana getting out early, Shubman Gill dropped anchor and sought to keep the scoreboard ticking. Even as the likes of Rahul Tripathi and Eoin Morgan failed, Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell came up with some crucial runs at the death. The final score that KKR reached was 154/6.

Taking first strike in the second innings was Prithvi Shaw and with Shivam Mavi bowling at him, the young opener took the bowler apart. After a wide off the first ball, Shaw hit a whopping six fours in a row. Each ball was deposited to the fence with ease as the opener pierced the gaps at will. It seemed like he could do no wrong as he timed balls to perfection and sent balls flying to the boundary.

Mavi was under the pump and there was nothing the young bowler could do. It was the second instance of six fours being hit in an over following Ajinkya Rahane‘s effort of Sreenath Aravind in 2012. This was however, the first instance of it happening in the first over. After Shaw achieved the feat, Twitter was flooded with messages of praise for him.
