IPL 2021: ‘The sun has set for Sunrisers Hyderabad,’ says Aakash Chopra

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra reckoned that the sun has set for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) despite changing their skipper mid-way in the tournament. The Hyderabad-based franchise is currently struggling at the last spot in the Points Table with a solitary win in seven matches.

Moreover, SRH sacked their regular David Warner from the leadership role to appoint Kane Williamson as the new skipper. The decision came after their sixth game of IPL 2021 against Chennai Super Kings at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. But things didn’t change for them as the ‘Orange Army’ lost yet another one-sided clash against Rajasthan Royals

“The sun has set for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their captain has changed but not their fortunes. They have won just one of their seven encounters. They changed the combination and played Nabi with Rashid.

“But they didn’t make him bowl at all and got very little batting as well because he came too low down. I mean it was as good as playing with three overseas players. Bhuvi was back but the form was missing for the other players,” Aakash Chopra said.

‘A bit surprised at Williamson’s bowling choices’: Chopra

Kane Williamson

The cricketer-turned-commentator expressed his bewilderment over Kane Williamson’s bowling changes during the game against RR. He mentioned that the Kiwi cricketer didn’t give the ball to Mohammad Nabi after just one bad over while finished off Rashid Khan’s quota by the 11th over.

“I was a little surprised at Kane Williamson’s bowling choices. He didn’t give bowling to Nabi at all or gave just the one over, finished Rashid by the 11th over. I was slightly stunned,” Chopra further said.

The Kane Williamson-led side is now scheduled to lock horns with Mumbai Indians on May 5 at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.
