DC won the toss today and opted to bat first. They brought in Axar Patel in place of Lalit Yadav. SRH on the other hand, brought in J Suchith for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The DC openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan then got their side off to a flying start with the former playing the role of an aggressor. The latter offered him excellent support and the Capitals motored along nicely.

After Prithvi Shaw’s fifty, Shikhar Dhawan as well as Shaw got out in quick succession to leave Steve Smith and Rishabh Pant to capitalize on the excellent start to the innings. The duo kept the scoreboard ticking and put DC on their way to a challenging total on the Chepauk pitch which has been troubling a plethora of batsmen as of late.

During the DC innings, one delivery by Vijay Shankar caught the attention of all watchers. The SRH all-rounder came up with a ‘moon’ delivery after the ball looped off his hand due to it being wet. Even as the ball took ages to come down, Rishabh Pant decided to capitalize on the freebie and hit it with all his might. However, he couldn’t get the connection he would have wanted which led to only a single.

There was some discussion following the delivery with umpires deciding as to whether it was a dead ball or a no-ball. They went with the latter and off the free-hit that followed Steve Smith reverse-swept Shankar for a four.
