“IPL is likely to be held in mid of May” says Saurav Ganguly

As we all know that the lockdown has been extended for 19 days till 3rd May due to the increasing cases of coronavirus. Due to the extention of lockdown Indian Premier League 2020 is likely to be postponed.

“There is no clarity about the IPL 2020 which will held in future. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will issue the new dates after 3rd May for the matches when the government will release new guidelines and the situation will be under control. ” said by sources.

Earlier the IPL was scheduled to start from 29th March 2020, but later on it was postponed till 15th April due the coronavirus outbreak. Then government announced 21 days complete lockdown from 23 march till 14th April. Which is now extended till 3rd May.

PM Modi said, “Till April 20, all districts, localities, states will be closely monitored, as to how strictly they are implementing norms. States which will not let hotspots increase, they could be allowed to let some important activities resume, but with certain conditions. “

BCCI president Saurav Ganguly said that,” I will be able to give a concrete update on whether the IPL will be further deferred after speaking to BCCI office-bearers.”

“But practically speaking, when life has come to a standstill everywhere in the world, where does sport have a future in this,” Ganguly had told.

“We keep monitoring developments. At the present moment, we can’t say anything. And what is there to say anyway? Airports are shut, people are stuck at home, offices are locked down, nobody can go anywhere. And it seems this is how it’s going to be till the middle of May,” he added.
