Italian Open 2020: Simona Halep overcomes Muguruza to book a place in the final

Simona Halep and Garbrine Muguruza played out a 3 set match at the Italian Open 2020 semifinals with Simona Halep overcoming her rival Muguruza and making her way into the finals to be played on Monday.

Simona Halep and Garbrine Muguruza played out an intense match in the semifinals at the Italian Open 2020. Simona Halep eventually overcame the Muguruza in 3 sets and booked her place in the finals which will be played on Monday. Her opponent will be the winner of the game between Karolina Pliskova and Marketa Vondrousova who face off in another semifinal.

Simona Halep beats Muguruza in three sets

Simona Halep, top seed at Italian Open 2020 beat her rival Garbrine Muguruza in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Halep started off well winning the first set quite comfortably but however the Spaniard despite being a break down in the second set came back and took the match to the deciding 3rd set. Halep regained her composure and overcame Muguruza by winning the 3rd set and booking a place in the finals to be played on Monday.

Muguruza made a shocking 8 double faults in her match against Halep which eventually cost her the match. Halep just won 52% points on her first serve and she would be looking to do better when she takes the court again on Monday in the finals. There was not much to separate the two ladies as Halep won 97 points compared to Muguruza’s 94 points but however Halep maintained her composure when it mattered the most and eventually won the match.

Match Result- Simona Halep beats Muguruza 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
