Jan Blachowicz had a successful showing at UFC 253. He defeated Dominick Reyes to win the vacant light heavyweight title in the co-main event. The same night, Israel Adesanya put away Paulo Costa via TKO in the second round to defend his UFC Middleweight Championship. Fans have been rooting for a match ever since then, and it looks like Blachowicz wants to face Israel Adesanya inside the Octagon in the near future too.
Jan Blachowicz open to Israel Adesanya superfight next
The reigning light heavyweight champ wants to face Adesanya inside the octagon. While Adesanya remains undefeated, Blachowicz is on a 4 match winning streak, winning eight of his last nine. Notably defeating Corey Anderson, Luke Rockhold, Jacare Souza, Jared Cannonier, and most recently Reyes.
Speaking with Just Scrap Radio , Blachowicz said that he would love to fight Adesanya at light heavyweight.
“I will be stronger, bigger, smarter in the fight. If UFC would like to do the fight I am ready. It would be a pleasure to fight and beat Adesanya and show him legendary Polish power at 205.”
He is confident that both himself and Adesanya are looking to defend their titles, and doesn’t mind fighting the “last stylebender” to defend his light heavyweight championship. Blachowicz is targeting a March 2021 date for their match, when he returns.
“March would be perfect. In December I will have a child so I have to focus on that. Before my fight, everything was about me so now I want to focus on my fiancee and wait for the baby. After New Year, three months for a good camp would be the perfect time for my first title defense.”
With the potential super-match being teased, a victory over Blachowicz would only add more ground for “the last stylebender” in his quest for a dream match with Jon Jones. Who would emerge victorious between Blachowicz and Adesanya? We have to wait to find out.
