The World No. 31 had very humble beginnings, being born in the town of Innichen, a ski-resort tourist place where his parents worked at a ski lodge to support their family. Jannik was always into the sports, playing football, skiing and tennis. He was the national champion in Skiing and shifted to tennis only when he turned 13 and preferred tennis over the other two sports.

Sinner was usually the wildcard at ATP tournaments, but was impressive in his runs at the matches. At the age of 17, he won the Next Gen ATP Finals becoming the youngest Italian to do and first person born in 2001 to accomplish the feat. Ever since, the Italian has been making his name in the world of tennis and has already won 2 ATP titles and reached the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam.

Jannik Sinner with his success has still remained grounded and humbled and he credits his parents for his values. “My parents have a simple job. My father works as a cook and my mother as a waitress at a restaurant. They work every day,” said Sinner in a recent media appearance.

Jannik’s parents Siglinde Sinner and Johann Sinner have been a very strong influence on their kids. In fact it was Johann who pushed his son back into the game of tennis, supported his decision to relocate away from home for better training in his teens.

While their son is now a very hot prospect on the ATP Tour, Johann and his wife Siglinde still continue with their jobs, which has inspired Jannik a lot. “They have passed me down the respect for the work and the willingness to give my best all the time,” he said.

Jannik Sinner is into the finals of the Miami Open 2021 and will be up against Hubert Hurkacz in the chase for his 3rd ATP title.
