UFC 258 was bound to happen on February 14th in Las Vegas. The event is headlined by the Welterweight bout between Kamaru Usmanand Gilbert Burns. The UFC 258 had an intriguing bantamweight fight between Pedro Munhozand Jimmie Riverascheduled for its viewers.
Pedro Munhoz is currently the #8 ranked Bantamweight fighter in the UFC with a record of 18-5-0. The Brazilian has lost his last two fights, losing to Frankie Edgar and Aljamain Sterling. Munhoz had an amazing victory against the former Bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt.
Jimmie Rivera meanwhile, is ranked #9 in the bantamweight division and has a record of 23-4-0. The Italian sneaked off a victory against Cody Stamann between losses against Aljamain Sterling and current Bantamweight champion, Petr Yan.
This fight which would’ve possibly been an amazing contest won’t be happening due to a positive result in the COVID tests ahead of the fights. The name of the candidate that tested positive has not been revealed by the officials yet.
Pedro vs Jimmie to be rescheduled for UFC Vegas 20
According to reports, the fight between Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera is to be rescheduled for a later date, possibly at the UFC Vegas 20 on February 27. If the fight does take place then it might give Munhoz to avenge his defeat against Rivera in 2015.
Jimmie Rivera managed to win against Pedro Munhoz by a unanimous decision in Round 3 at the UFC Fight night 77: Belfort vs Henderson.
