Now, Jones is threatening to walk away from this light heavyweight title.  He said he had nothing to gain from facing potential title challengers Dominic Reyes and Jan Blachovic, but noted the possibility of a superfight against UFC middleweight champion and previous feudal contestant Israel Adanya in 2021.

He remains officially undefeated as a champion, but was stripped of the title twice for a hit-and-run incident and failed drug test, and once for the interim title.  Jones is still the UFC’s top official pound-for-pound fighter, though his most recent wins against Reyes and Thiago Santos are considered too close for comfort, and even undesirable by some, through a decision  Too.

As Jones further negotiates his way as a champion with his past and current state of the game, it cannot be surprising that he is ready to leave his professional home of the last 12 years.
