WATCH: Juan Martin del Potro begins recovery from knee surgery

Just two weeks after his latest knee surgery, Juan Martin del Potro begins his recovery training.

Juan Martin del Potro is one of the most loved tennis players around. The Argentine announced himself on the big stage after he won the US Open 2009 title, defeating Roger Federer in the final. However, a career that looked so bright and destined for multiple grand slams has been hammered by injuries.

He has not played a single tournament since the Queen’s, 2019. He has undergone three right knee surgeries since then, and vows to make a comeback at some point in this year. 

Juan Martin del Potro believes that 2021 was his year, as he is preparing to make a comeback in the second quarter of the season. The Argentinian also said earlier that the Tokyo Olympics is his biggest motivation this year.

Del Potro begins rehab after a recent knee surgery

Just two weeks after the 32-year-old underwent a fourth right knee surgery in Chicago, the Argentine is back to work. The former World No. 3 posted a video of himself doing gym work with a brace on his right leg.

Del Potro has previously had surgeries on both of his wrists. The former World No. 3 last competed at the cinch Championships at The Queen’s Club in 2019.

Ahead of the European Clay season, many players including Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Karen Khachanov, Andrey Rublev and Denis Shapovalov have started practicing on Clay.
