Top 5 most expensive players in PKL 2021 auction

A three-day auction for the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2021 recently concluded where many domestic, as well as overseas players, went under the hammer. All 12 franchises met with the minimum criteria of 14 members in their squads at the end of the event.

Just like every auction, several players grabbed huge money while some big stars went unsold. Let’s look at the top five most expensive players in PKL 2021 auction:

1. Pardeep Narwal (UP Yoddha)

Pro Kabaddi’s all-time highest-scorer, Pardeep Narwal broke all charts to become the most expensive player in the history of the league. UP Yoddha grabbed him for a whopping INR 1.65 crores. After making his debut with Bengaluru Bulls, he moved to Patna Pirates in season 3.

2. Siddharth Sirish Desai (Telugu Titans)

Siddharth Desai is once again set to represent Telugu Titans in the Vivo PKL. The former U Mumba raider was bought for INR 1.30 crores at the 2021 auction. In season 7, he grabbed a deal worth INR 1.45 crores from the Telugu-based franchise.

3. Arjun Deshwal (Jaipur Pink Panthers)

Arjun Deshwal’s auction price surprised everyone as Jaipur Pink Panthers went bonkers to secure his services for a massive amount of INR 96 lakhs. The former U Mumba raider comes with an experience of just 22 matches and 110 points. The Panthers’ decision will remain under the microscope during PKL 8.

4. Manjeet (Tamil Thalaivas)

Youngster Manjeet was bought for big bucks by his new franchise at PKL 2021 auction, Tamil Thalaivas. The Magnum Sports Ventures Pvt Ltd-owned side grabbed Manjeet for a handsome amount of INR 92 lakhs. He has played for Patna Pirates and Puneri Paltan respectively in the last two seasons. 

5. Sachin Tanwar (Patna Pirates)

Three-time champions Patna Pirates have signed Sachin Tanwar for INR 84 lakhs at PKL 2021 auction. The 2015 ‘Best Debutant’ award winner has previously represented Gujarat Fortunegiants (now Gujarat Giants) for the last three seasons. Popular for his running hand touch move, Sachin is amongst the top raiders in this cash-rich league.
