Following a long two-year gap, Pro Kabbadi League (PKL) is back with a bang with its eighth season. PKL 8 kicked off with a thrilling triple header on the opening day. Former champs U Mumba took on the Bengaluru Bulls while an exciting Southern Derby witness Telugu Titans and the Tamil Thalaivas go toe to toe. The final game of the day saw the defending champions Bengal Warriors take on UP Yoddhas.

Surprising one and all, U Mumbai completed a comprehensive victory over the season favourites, the Bulls. Young gun Abhishek Singh emerged as the star for U Mumba as he scored 19 raid points in the match to take his side to a 46-30 win. While the Bengaluru Bulls managed two super raids, their weak defence led them to their perish.

The Southern Derby stole the show as the Titans held the Thalaivas to a thrilling draw. The edge of the seat thriller saw the Tamil Thalaivas bottle a six point lead as the Telugu Titans snatched the win from under their nose. Siddharth Desai and Manjeet starred for their respective sides with a super 10 to their name.

The return of the sport following a long gap saw the jubilant fans bare it all out on social media. While some were excited to see their favourite players on the mat, other were enjoying the banter between the rivals.

The final game of the day saw the defending champs, Bengal Warriors kick off their defence with a win. Taking on Pradeep Narwal‘s UP Yoddhas, the Warriors rode on Mohammad Nabibakhsh‘s all-round heroics to kick off the season with a win. While Pradeep starred for the Yoddhas with eight points, the Iranian was clearly the player of the match a super ten under his belt.
