‘Clout Stealer’ – Kamaru Usman accuses Conor McGregor of trying to chirp and get to whoever has got clout!

Kamaru Usman and Conor McGregor

Kamaru Usman reigned as the undisputed king of the welterweight division after he beat Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC 261. The Nigerian Nightmare struck a devastating straight right hand that rendered Masvidal as stiff as a board, knocking him out for the first time.

Soon after Usman had knocked out Masvidal, Conor McGregor called out the Nigerian and also accused him of copying his trademark right hand.

Usman addressed this in the latest episode of Flagrant 2 podcast with Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh saying that Conor has been calling him out because he has lost his relevance and hence has begun chasing clout, after giving props to what the Irishman had accomplished in the UFC.

‘At this point it gets a little corny’ – Kamaru Usman

Usman was quoted as saying, “We have to give him props for what he’s done and the space that he’s put himself. But, at this point, it gets a little bit corny. We are in this age of all these clout chasers and people always continuing to steal clout. Conor is getting to the point where it’s – ‘if I can’t create it myself anymore, then I’m just gonna chirp and get to whoever has got it’.” [H/T FirstSportz]

Hard not to agree with Usman, as Conor has become a mere shadow of himself after being finished for the first time, at the hands of Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. He will be looking forward to exacting his revenge, come the 10th of July at UFC 264.

As for Usman, a possible rematch with Colby Covington awaits. The pair had a war at UFC 245, and is considered by many as one of the greatest welterweight fights of all time. In the immediate aftermath of UFC 245, Covington called Usman for a rematch, and it looks like his calls have finally been answered.
