The Buffalo Bills host conference rivals Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9 and aim to avenge the conference loss last year. The Bills and Chiefs showdown is set to take place at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. Eastern Time.

The Buffalo Bills are currently second in the AFC East behind the New England Patriots after two back-to-back losses in Weeks 5 and 6 took them off their momentum. The Bills, after a bye week, bounced back against the Carolina Panthers on October 26, 2025.

The Panthers were silenced into submission by the power-packed Bills’ ground attack led by James Cook. Cook solidified himself as a player on the lookout with 216 yards on the ground and three touchdowns from nineteen carries.

The Chiefs, on the other hand, are on the rise. After a few losses in the first weeks, the Chiefs have quickly readied themselves and returned to winning ways. Nonetheless, the AFC West is quite stellar this year. The Chiefs, despite a 5-3 record, are third in the AFC West behind the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers. Nevertheless, they retain their position as one of the strongest teams in the league and still lead several odds to finish atop the division.

As the clash returns to Highmark Stadium once again, the Bills would want to avenge their loss in the conference finals last season. The Bills and the Chiefs met once each in the regular season and the postseason and shared the spoils.

However, the Chiefs’ win packed more punch due to them coming in the knockouts. While Sunday’s game won’t necessarily give the same feeling, the Bills Mafia would love to see the Chiefs crushed. Though conference rivals for some time, the Chiefs and the Bills’ rivalry has resurged tenfold in the past few years.

Why can the Kansas City Chiefs win?

The Kansas City Chiefs have been on an upward path since the offense got the chemistry it lacked at the beginning of the season. The Chiefs have surged since Rashee Rice rejoined the squad. Rice’s inclusion has helped Patrick Mahomes perform better. In three weeks since rejoining the team, Rice has caught sixteen passes from nineteen targets for 135 yards and three touchdowns.

Patrick Mahomes has also charged up offensively. He sits behind Justin Herbert in the passing yards category. He’s tied with Matthew Stafford for most touchdowns thrown this season, with 17 so far. Additionally, the Chiefs have the advantage of facing a weak run defense on Sunday. The Bills are just above the New York Giants in that category and without Ed Oliver in the starting roster, the Bills are quite vulnerable.

Why can the Buffalo Bills win?

Josh Allen has been rather silent this few weeks and dropped out of the MVP race as well. That said, Allen is still a weapon in the Bills’ armory, and they might be keeping him on the down low for the low-pressure games. For one, the Bills brought in Mitchell Trubisky in garbage time to give him snaps and get Allen off the field.

If it is as consensus, Allen may be returning to his Week 1 game form against the Chiefs. Allen, despite limited production, has shown that he can change the results and come back from impossible deficits as well. James Cook has been sensational this season, second in the league in rushing yards.

His rushing against the Panthers in the Week 8 blowout win was the sixth-highest in a single game in the Bills’ 66-year history and was the most by any Buffalo player since O.J. Simpson set the franchise’s all-time rushing record in Week 12 of the 1976 season.

The Bills’ O-Line also made some consistent efforts, and breaking the momentum would be a task for the Chiefs. Last but not least, the Bills have the home advantage, and the Chiefs haven’t fared well in road games this season.
