Karnataka govt. and MPL are organising online Chess tournament to raise fund for coronavirus relief

United Karnataka Chess Association and Government of Karnataka come up with Bengaluru based Mobile Premier League(MPL) application to organise an online chess tournament to raise funds for coronavirus relief. The tournament will take place on 2nd and 3rd May. The prizing money will be donated to the Karnataka CM’s relief fund.

The minister of Youth Empowerment and Sports, C.T Ravi said, “I request the chess players of the nation to come forward and donate liberally to the cause in your own way and also challenge themselves to think, strategize and move and thereby checkmate Covid-19. Let’s fight Corona together.”

The Co-founder and CEO of MPL, Sai Srinivas Kiran said,” We are humbled and honoured to work with Karnataka government for such a noble cause. This is the time to show our togetherness and to give defeat this pandemic. We are expecting from all the players to come forward and participate in the tournament.”

The tournament is for all the players across the country and it has ₹50 entry charge. The total collection would be around 10 lakhs and the winner will get ₹ 1,00,000 as prize.
