Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the league right now. However, his comeback hasn’t been very good for the Brooklyn Nets. Since their loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, the team lost 3 of their 5 last games with Miami Heat handing them their latest defeat. But controversy around Kevin Durant doesn’t seem to stop yet. Recently Kevin Durant game an interview where he was asked about 5 best teammates he has played with till now. Surprisingly he did not mention Russell Westbrook being on of them. NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith has taken a dig into question this pick of Kevin Durant.

It all started since the Brooklyn Nets’ star Kevin Durant took a knack of forgetfulness. KD was on ‘Million Dollaz Worth of Game’ podcast where he was asked about 5 best teammates he has ever played with. Kevin Durant mentioned Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Serge Ibaka. He surprisingly snubbed Russell Westbrook from this list and complained that he forgot. This statement has spread like wildfire throughout the social media now.

Russel Westbrook and Kevin Durant sharing a rocky relationship?

It was very evident that Kevin Durant deemed “tripping” while he picked names as he mentioned. However, his claim of honest mistake seems more of intentional dilemma according to Stephen A. Smith. The NBA analyst said on a podcast, “I don’t believe him, I highlighted the history that involves the both of them. I took into account what I saw, cuz I watched the segment on the podcast, ok? And I also brought up Serge Ibaka?? Kyrie, Harden, Steph, Klay, and IBAKA? Really?”

He also added, “I would understand if he had picked Draymond over Ibaka. But Ibaka? Come on now. All I am trying to say is that I don’t buy it.” Later, Stephen A. Smith claimed that it might have been hard times with Kevin Durant and Russ since 2016 trade, but how could he choose Ibaka. He was clearly not convinced with Serge Ibaka snubbing Westbrook and other players.

Ever since the trade happened and Kevin Durant got into Dubs, Russ and KD weren’t on the best terms. They became sort of rivals and did not spare chance to taunt each other. It was even rumored that Kevin Durant left OKC because he did not wish to play alongside Russ. It is still very illusive whether the statement was because of forgetfulness or not, while KD attracts more critics towards him.
