Kevin Lee has switched his attention towards Mike Perry looking for a probable move up to the welterweight class. There has been some rumblings of this match up for a while and now it is left to the company to make the fight happen for July 10 at UFC 264. The ‘Motown Phenom’ is bound to make a comeback this summer after his injury.

Kevin Lee last fought in the octagon at UFC Fight Night Brasilia facing Brazil’s own Charles Oliveira who is now facing Michael Chandler for the vacant UFC Lightweight title. The fight ended badly as The Motown Phenom got submitted in the third round. Kevin Lee has won only one of his previous four bouts. Last year was a bad year for Lee.

Kevin suffered an ACL tear last year, and had to take a break given he required a surgery and rehab. The fighter is back and has shifted his focus from the lightweight division to welterweight. Lee is looking to make a fight happen against the ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry. He recently called him out on Twitter.

“@PlatinumPerry we fighting July 10 or what @seanshelby @danawhite,” Kevin Lee wrote on his Twitter account. Lee was initially looking for a rematch against his former rival Tony Ferguson who is now fighting Beneil Dariush at UFC 262. But now Mike Perry might be the way to go for the fighter from Detroit.

Is Mike Perry vs Kevin Lee the fight to make?

As far as Mike Perry, he has not been in the greatest forms either lately. Perry has lost 4 of his last 5 bouts. His most recent loss was at UFC Fight Night event on 11 April this year where he won by a one-sided unanimous decision against Daniel Rodriguez. Mike has only one fight left in his contract.

The last time Mike Perry saw victory was in 2019 against Alex Oliveira but ever since then he has not been able to get the best of his opponent. A win against some one like Kevin Lee could get him to sign a new contract. There is no doubt that a matchup between the two would be one of the most entertaining matchups of the card.
