Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter today to voice out his opinions against people announcing to the world about their positive COVID-19 test. Little did the former England cricketer know that he was about to get tremendous backlash. This was because of the timing of the tweet falling on the same day when former Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar had announced on social media that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

The 47-year-old further thanked all medical professionals involved in his testing and treatment as well as around the world.

Kevin Pietersen tweeted out today saying, “Can someone please tell me, why you need to announce it to the world, that you have Covid?!

Soon after posting it, he started receiving backlash from fans. Yuvraj Singh was among those who questioned the timing of the tweet. The former Indian cricketer wrote, “And how come you thought of this today and not before ?

Yuvraj then stated that he was only pulling Pietersen’s legs. It was only after, that the Englishman realized that Sachin Tendulkar had tested positive for COVID-19 today. He then wrote, “Just seen Sachin has it! Oops! Sorry @sachin_rt, get better soon buddy!”

From the various answers he received, Pietersen understood that people announce that they have COVID-19 on social media to let close ones and those who have come in contact know about. He wrote, “It was a pretty simple & harmless question, on why many people announce they have Covid on all sorts of SM platforms.

“The answer around informing people, so people who know they’ve been in contact with that person and must now get tested, makes perfect sense! Thank you!,” he signed off.
