Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier have been long time friends and sparring partners

Daniel Cormier, former Lightweight and Heavyweight champion who is also widely known by many to be the sparring partner of Khabib Nurmagomedov. The two sparring partners share a good friendship with each other. There is often nothing but praise exchanged between the two.

DC was recently on a podcast with ESPN journalist Ariel Helwani and when asked about Khabib’s USADA test, he responded saying “I think you leave the door open. A while back I asked Dana to take me out of the Octagon but I still do USADA. It’s kind of fun. I stay in the testing pool. It makes me feel like an athlete. It’s kind of fun. It’s cool….I’ve been tested 55 times. I’m just trying to break the record (most USADA tests), I’m trying to just go ahead than anybody else. That’s why. It’s not a big deal.”

Despite being listed in the testing pool, he is still mentioned as the lightweight champion and the # 1 pound for pound fighter of the UFC.

‘The Eagle’ successfully defended his belt against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 which happened to be his last fight in the octagon. The fight only lasted just two rounds with Gaethje being submitted at the end of it and his longer wrestling experience was no match for the champ. After defending his title he went on to shock the UFC fans by revealing that he was retiring and would no longer compete again.

In his post fight Octagon interview he revealed that he was retiring as he promised his mother that he would not fight without his father as his coach as he lost him recently.
