Kiren Rijiju, The Union Sports Minister of India, had held a meeting through video conferencing with all the Regional Directors of the SAI (Sports Authority of India) to review the arrangements for the athletes amid the 21-day lockdown in the country.
Kiren Rijiju office tweeted, “In the video conference with all regional directors of SAI to review arrangements for athletes. Kiren Rijiju congratulates the athletes for following strip discipline and the rules of the lockdown. Athletes staying at SAI camps have ensured they maintain social distancing and stay in.”
Further in the meeting, Regional directors of SAI centers briefed Kiren Rijiju that;
“All athletes who are home are connecting with coaches on digital platforms every day to ensure training isn’t hampered. Also, the coaches are enhancing knowledge with SAI’s live session with experts.”
SAI Banglore and SAI Patiala Minister reviewed arrangements where all the elite athletes were housed. All the senior officials of SAI had attended the meeting throughout the country. The regional directors ensured that the training of athletes will not be hampered due to the ongoing scare of the Novel coronavirus.
Coronavirus was declared a Pandemic on March 11 by WHO. Till today, cases have increased to 4,421 in India while the death toll rising to 114.
