On Wednesday, Union Youth Affairs and Sports minister Kiren Rijiju thanked junior golfer Arun Bhatia for contributing to the PM CARES fund to help the country in this situation of a pandemic around the world.
Bhartiya had donated Rs 330000 to PM care funds by selling his torn shoes with which he won the Junior Golf World Championship in 2018. Earlier golfer had donated Rs. 4.30 Lakh.
“I’m so proud of you @arjunbhatigolf! You Creamed it, You Middled it, You Boomed it, you Flushed it, You Ripped it, You Nailed it for India,” Rijiju tweeted.
Several sportspersons came forward to donate money to PM care funds and helped the country to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Among them Indian cricketer Suresh Raina also contributed Rs 31,00,000 to PM CARES fund. Indian shuttler PV Sindhu, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, and wrestler Bajrang Punia have also contributed to help the country for the same cause.
According to the data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family, a total number of positive coronavirus cases across the country is over 19,984, including 15,474 active cases. So far, 3,869 patients have been cured and discharged while 640 deaths.
