Klopp could use an intricate technical player like Thiago: Former Red star Hamann

Dietmar Hamann backs Thiago Alcantara to make £30m Liverpool move ...

Former Liverpool player, Dietmar Hamann thinks that Thiago could be a useful signing for Jurgen Klopp. Recently, there have been rumours of Thiago leaving Bayern after rejecting a contract extension. Former Liverpool star Hamann now has given his opinion on signing the Spaniard.

Hamann thinks that there are many workhorses in the Liverpool midfield so they could make use of a technical player like Thiago. “He does not quite fit the profile of the Reds’ transfer policy at his age. Regardless, a transfer would make sense in my eyes.”

“Klopp has more workhorses in his midfield with Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Naby Keita. He could use an intricate technical player like Thiago well,” the former Champions League winner, Hamann said.

Hamann feels that a contract at Bavarians will be waiting for Thiago to sign. “On the other hand, he will surely have a new contract at Bayern waiting to be signed. I would be surprised if he were not offered a lot to stay.”

Hamann was a part of Rafa Benitez’s famous 2005 side which produced the Miracle of Istanbul. He feels that Liverpool will be able to keep the price down if they are to pursue Thiago. “Liverpool certainly want to keep the costs down. Thiago is 29 now, and when everyone is fit in the Bayern midfield, he starts on the bench. Thiago certainly has brilliant moments. I like to watch him, but he has never played in a Champions League final for Bayern. The bottom line is that he’s one of the most likely options for Liverpool to pursue,” Hamann added.
