India left China stunned, as on Friday Koneru Humpy beat Hou Yifan 6-5 to enter the final of the fourth Grand Prix leg of the FIDE Chess.com Women’s Speed Chess championship.
The Chinese world No.1 was surely a nemesis over the years, and this how it was the real sweet revenge for the world No.2.
It was one of the most exciting semifinals, the competition was tough till last moment it was neck-to-neck, and the scores were level at 5-5 going to the last game but things went all upside down when ‘in the nerve-wracking finale of one-minute-plus-one-second game, Jumpy prevailed.
Humpy told Sportstar, “This is certainly my best performance yet in online chess, something I don’t have much experience in.
I felt great to beat Yifan, who has a superior score against me in classical chess and who has been in top form in this leg.”
We wish all the best to Humpy for her Sunday final against Russia’s Alexandra Kosteniuk.
