Atletico Madrid couldn’t penetrate Atletico Bilbao defense and they ended up dropping points at Wanda Metropolitano. In the 1st 25 minutes of the game, Atletico Madrid attack looked threatening of scoring goals but Bilbao defense kept themselves intact and denied goal scoring chances.

In the 2nd half, both Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao were close to score but they missed the chance. Jan Oblak (GK) (7/10): Throughout the game, Oblak was not threatened by Bilbao at the goal in the 1st half. But he felt little pressure due to some lapses by Atletico Madrid’s defense.

Mario Hermoso (7/10): Both on and off the ball, Hermoso was creating chances for his team. At defensive position, he made some great clearances and interceptions to break Bilbao’s attacking build ups.

Jose Gimenez (7/10): Gimenez made some teriffic passes to Kondogbia and Lodi to create goal scoring opportunities. He also made three important clearances and two amazing clearances to dent oppositions goal scoring chances.

Stefan Savic (7/10): At right back position, Savic had 88% pass accuracy and had some great attacking build up with Trippier and Llorente.

Renan Lodi (7/10): Lodi was sharp and active throughout the game. He had 81% pass completion and stopped some dangerous counter attacking chances . He also made some key passes to Griezmann and De Paul and created some close goal scoring chances.

Geoffrey Kondogbia (7/10): In the central midfield, Kondogbia made some great passes and he was able to create some close opportunities for Llorente and Griezmann.

Kieran Trippier (7/10): Trippier made excellent movements in the opposition defense and also at defensive position, he made some good blocks and interceptions.

Rodrigo De Paul (6/10): De Paul couldn’t create much chances in the game for Atletico. In the 1st half, there was a counterattacking chance created by unable to make it into a goal scoring opportunity.

Marcos Llorente (7/10): In the1st half, Llorente made some great build up for Correa and Griezmann but they were not converted. In the 75th minute, Llorente was close to scoring but ended up hitting the post.

Angel Correa (7/10): Throughout the game, Correa was sensational with his runs in the spaces. He had two shots on goal but couldn’t score.

Antoine Griezmann (5/10): Griezmann had an ordinary day on the field. He had many great assists from the midfield and defense but couldn’t penetrate Bilbao defense.

Substitutes

Hector Herrera (7/10): He produced the magical movements for Atletico Madrid after coming as a substitute. Herrera made some great interceptions and clearances to dent Bilbao’s chances.

Luis Suarez (6/10): He came from bench at 55th minute to create more chances for Atletico Madrid but couldn’t create any effective chance.

Yannick Carasco (7/10): Carrasco replaced Lodi and he looked in excellent form. He made some great passes to Suarez and Felix and had great some attack on Bilbao goal.

Joao Felix (7/10): Felix after coming from bench was looking good. He had some great build up with Carrasco but unfortunately red carded at 78th minute leaving Atletico Madrid to 10 men.

Matheus Cunha (7/10): Tiring Trippier was slowing down with his pace at the final minutes of the game. But Cunha’s induction on pitch helped Atletico Madrid maintain the momentum.

Athletic Bilbao

Unai Simon (GK) (8/10): Simon was wall for Sassuolo at the goal. He made two important saves and two amazing clearances.

Mikel Balenziaga (7/10): Balenziaga was very intact with his passing and creating spaces on the pitch. He made two important interceptions to stop Correa from scoring.

Inigo Martinez (6/10): At the centre back position, Martinez was spot on to track down Griezmann’s movements and also intercepted opportunities created by De Paul and Lodi.

Daniel Vivian (7/10): Vivian was very good tactically as center back. He made an important clearance to deny Griezmann from scoring and also had 90% passing accuracy.

Inigo Lekue (7/10): Whenever from the Lodi, De Paul and Correa were building up for scoring goals, Inigo was well positioned and helped intercepting and blocking Atletico Madrid’s chances.

Iker Muniain (7/10): Munian was very active and had an excellent game in attacking front, making two key passes. He had 95% passing accuracy and defensively also he made some great interceptions.

Unai Vencedor (6/10): Vencedor looked lack lustre in his stint on the pitch. He was unable to track and hold the build up play of Trippier and Llorente.

Dani Garcia (7/10): With the ball, Garcia was excellent. He won some tough challenges against Joao Felix, Trippier and Kondogbia.

Alex Berenguer (6/10): At left wing, Berenguer looked little loose with his passing and he was often intercepted by Lodi and Kondogbia denting Bilbao’s chances.

Inaki Williams (6/10): Williams was not well positioned throughout the game and was unable to convert build up chances for Bilbao. In the 2nd half, he missed a great chance of scoring.

Raul Garcia (7/10): In the game, Raul Garcia created some great passes to Inaki Williams and Berenguer to score. He also won some great tackles against Atletico Madrid defenders to win back the possession.

Substitutes

Nico Williams (7/10): In the 2nd half substitution, Nico Williams was brought in to bring pace in the attack to tire out Atletico Madrid defense. He made some great movements and passes on the pitch.

Asier Villalibre (6/10): Villalibre came as a substitute for Nika Williams in 63rd minute. He was not looking confident with the ball as he was loosing the ball too easily and in the final minutes, he missed a great goal scoring chance.

Mikel Vesga (7/10): In 20 minutes of play, Vesga did not create much impact in offensive play. But helped the defense to keep the ball by 100% passing accuracy.

Jon Morcillo (6/10): Morcillo was brought in to strengthen the attacking options for Bilbao. But he couldn’t create many opportunities for his side.
