When Sachin did not turn up to play, I decided not to watch IPL again: Sushma Verma

The 27-year-old Himachal player stated that she admires Sachin Tendulkar so much that ever since he retired, she stopped watching the IPL. She mentioned that the disappointment of not seeing him play once, left her dejected. 

“Yes, I do admire Sachin Tendulkar a lot. Actually, Mumbai had come to Dharamshala to play and I was hoping to see Sachin play. But Sachin did not turn up to play. So, after that I decided not to watch it again,” she said. 

Tendulkar was the inaugural leader for Mumbai Indians in the IPL journey. Much like Sushma, he ruled the heart of millions of cricketing fanatics. Sushma also emphasised that she used to watch the IPL when Sachin used to play for Mumbai. She eventually stopped watching ever since the legend retired.

Not being as keen as the majority of the country for the IPL. Sushma told that she does not watch the IPL regularly but is has a keen eye watching the longest format of the game.

Speaking about Dhoni’s retirement and her encounter with the Indian Wicket-keeping legend. Sushma told that she met his with the entire team and had an interaction with Dhoni, wherein the latter appreciated her for the good work she has been doing.

Sushma is quite fond of Dhoni as well. She makes sure whenever Chennai Super Kings is playing or if Dhoni is batting, she is able to witness that through her screen.

“Whenever Chennai Super Kings is playing or Dhoni is batting I make sure that I definitely do watch it,” Sushma told IANS. 

Sushma was last seen playing in the Indian jersey against England in the ODI series at Nagpur. Contained at her home during lockdown, Sushma explored other fields too and ended up liking painting. But jokingly said that it is only because there was nothing else to do.
